From the Pastor

July 2024

Lighthouse Church Family:

Hard to believe it has been a year since I became your pastor. Debbie and I are so grateful for your support and prayers. We strive to improve a church that has already attained grace. We had modest growth this year. With your assistance and the help of Jesus Christ we will continue to increase our reach.

There were three funerals, no baptisms, no marriages, and several catechisms. In addition to regular Sunday worship, we had special services at both Easter and Christmas. Our three bible study groups continue to meet with good attendance.  We served several missions throughout the year. WOW has met monthly. Church community is vital to our walk with Jesus.

I am at the halfway point in my degree and expect to graduate at Christmas 2025.I was ordained a Deacon in May and expect to advance to ordination as an Elder in September 2025. Debbie spends much of her time with the children’s program and church renovation. We have settled into our respective roles.

My sermon focus is on salvation through faith in Our Savior Jesus Christ. I will also continue to offer some messages of instruction on our core beliefs.

Understanding scripture through study is one of those values. Reading the Bible publicly is a central point of Christianity. Our offering is now an integral part of our worship service. Perhaps we will return to the traditional Communion service soon. As long as I am your pastor there will be an invitation at the end of the service. The baptismal fount will remain in a prominent place in our sanctuary.

I was called to become a minster at this time in the infancy of the Global Methodist Church. Our new logo is a reminder of our mission to make disciples of the world. Matthew 28:19-20. We will proudly wear our tee shirts as we march on July 4th. Our new sign declares our outreach to the Maineville area.

This month the work on the parish house backyard will begin. There are swing sets and benches to be placed. A firepit is planned. One goal of this is to make it clear that we are a church that loves the little children. Matthew 19:14.

July is the month we celebrate the independence of our country. One of our freedoms is to worship as we wish. We must remember always that our first loyalty is to God.

God Bless,

Debbie and Pastor Eric
