From the Parsonage…

What just happened?  It seems like  winter was just

dragging on and on...and then, it's spring!  Of course, I

know there will still be a few cold days ahead, but there

are more sunny mornings now, and even the rain seems

friendlier!  Not only that; Easter is just ahead! (Did you

notice all the exclamation signs?  You can tell my frame

of mind has picked up.)

Easter really does make a difference.  It reminds us of hope for better things to come.  Even though we won't be able to have all the activities associated with the holiday, we will definitely have more than last year.  If you remember, the church was actually closed during that time, and we had to make do with an online Easter service from Pastor Steve and me.  (If  you missed it, you can catch it on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY_TfxcR9ro.) Although we always enjoy sharing our musical presentations, we really missed your smiling faces!  This year, we'll have Holy Thursday and Good Friday Tenebrae services at 7 pm, plus an early Easter service at 9 am, followed by a Continental Breakfast, and then our usual Easter service at 10:45 am.  So if you're someone who has been missing church during the long pandemic, this might be the perfect time to come back!

In addition to springtime and Easter, there's something else I'm excited about this month, and that's the new study I'm preparing for the Ladies Bible Study and Coffee Fellowship.  This will begin Thursday, April 8, at 10 am, and the subject will be "The Women of David."  When I looked at the women in the Bible who were named in connection with King David, I was surprised that so little seems to be known about many of them.  It's been a real challenge to find out more.  And we're only concentrating on a few of them!  If you've missed spending time with other women or put off joining a group for Bible study, we'd love to have you join us as we try  to compare our lives with those women of long ago.  Interestingly, we find we're also learning quite a lot about their men and the times they lived in.

Finally, I look forward to getting out in the yard and working on  the landscaping again!  Not so much the weeding...but I love getting the flower beds ready and then watching the buds start to bloom.  Yes, indeed, April is off to a good start!

Blessings,

Dona
