From the Parsonage…

Did you ever make plans for something, and then it turned in

a completely different direction?  You made a decision, did all the

preliminary work, and felt pretty good about it, when, suddenly,

everything changed. That happened to me recently with our Ladies’

Bible Study & Coffee Fellowship.

Originally, I thought we might want to take a break through the summer and start again in the fall, but, when I brought it up, most of

the ladies wanted to keep going.  That was fine with me, since I wanted

this group to be more than a Bible study.  Although I did want us to

delve deeper into the Bible, I also hoped it would be a safe place for sharing joys and concerns, a place where real bonding and friendships would occur.  And I believe this is happening more every week!

Since we had finished our first study, “Truth Over Lies,” I needed to come up with a new plan for the summer, especially since the majority indicated they would mainly like to concentrate on Bible scriptures.  The good thing was that I had the whole week at West Ohio Conference to put

a new study together.

Almost immediately, I decided to follow up on Pastor Steve’s sermon series and went to work.  I spent lots of time looking at scripture, reading different commentaries, and even searching online to come up

with a good outline.  I knew I needed to have everything together in order to make a poster and signup sheet for Sunday morning, and I finished up very late on Saturday night.  A job well done!

Waking up early on Sunday morning, I opened my laptop to create the new poster and signup sheet.  All at once, I thought, “This isn’t what we should study!”  Wow!  How could that be?  I had everything ready to go.  But I had the strongest desire to change it completely.  The thoughts running through my mind kept saying, “This is a women’s study; they

need to study the women in the Bible.”

Back to the computer I went, and, in the next hour, I had the direction for the first summer study and the following studies.  It seemed like the information just kept popping up, and I even found several sites

I had never seen before.  One, in particular, gave me information and

study material on women I’m not really familiar with, as well as those

who are better known.  Talk about God showing up!

Our current study is on The Book of Ruth, and all Maineville

ladies are welcome to join us on Thursday mornings at 10 am as we combine study, sharing, prayer, and a good cup of coffee!

Blessings,

Dona
