LaCroix, Haiti

Our relationship with the LaCroix New Testament Mission began in 1980 or 1981 after hearing a presentation by Marian Girton, who was from Maineville.  Marian was a missionary in Haiti for over 30 years, and her compassion for the people of Haiti inspired our congregation to begin our own missionary service there.

For several years, a group of dedicated volunteers from Maineville Lighthouse Church made the journey to Haiti.  We performed construction-type tasks, including building school desks, building and repairing roofs, and renovating existing buildings.  We also worked on teaching beekeeping skills and building beehives through our Haiti Honeybee Project.

Due to the current political upheaval in the country over the past few years, our group has been unable to travel to the mission and has had to limit our support to financial aid.  Our church members now donate money towards purchasing food for those who desperately need it.

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along

unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness

into light before them and make the rough places smooth.

These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

Isaiah 42:16 (NIV)
